Fall 2021 TA Status
At this time, all TA appointments have now been offered to applicants. 113 TA assignments have been made to 101 individual students. Over 2/3 of TA positions were offered to PhD students for Fall 2021 (vs 50% in spring 2020 & spring 2021; vs 60% in fall 2020). This includes 27 new PhD student TAs and 11 new MS student TAs. In each case of a new MS student TA, they were either requested by a faculty member directly, had served the course as an undergraduate TA, and/or put a hard-to-fill course as a high preference (esp. 3081 and 5801 this semester). The last expected appointment letters will go out to students today. Any further hiring would only occur on the late resignation of a TA or unexpected changes in enrollment. Those appointments would likely be very narrow and only in the courses where an opening exists. Course assignments will continue to go out over the next several days. As we get closer to the start of term, more final course assignments will be made.
